4.1.2 Thermal conduction
Thermal conduction describes conduction or thermal diffusion into solid matter or a
liquid as a result of a difference in temperature. The physics of thermal conduction is
very similar to that of electrical engineering. The heat sources in thermal engineering
are just like the energy sources in electrical engineering and the thermal sinks in
thermal engineering are just like electrical loads in electrical engineering. And, just as
there are passive components in electrical engineering, so there are in thermal
engineering. The following descriptions of thermal resistance, thermal capacity and
transient thermal resistance are all covered by the term "conduction".
