Power Transmission & Distribution

Our IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) modules and thyristors are deployed in low-loss electric power generation in conventional (coal-fired) power stations and in generating electric power from sources of renewable energy as in wind power plants, hydroelectric power stations and solar power plants.

Right now our projects are for high-voltage direct-current transmission (HVDC) where Infineon's light-triggered thyristors from Warstein ensure low-loss and safe transport of energy over long distances. An example illustrating the point is the energy generation by hydropower in the interior of China and its transport across 3000 km to the coast where it is used in the region around Shanghai.
