Easy design and lowest system cost

  
Fully compatible with the world standard, these devices are optimized to offer extremely compact and cost effective PFC solutions for electronic ballast and off-line SMPS.
By using a zero current detector for discontinuous operation mode a near unity power factor and an excellent THD are achieved.
The latest addition are the TDA4863 and TDA4863-2 which are the improved versions of the active power factor controller TDA4862.
 
TDA4862, TDA4863 and TDA4863-2

  • IC for sinusoidal line-current consumption

  • Power factor achieves nearly 1

  • Controls boost converter as active harmonic filter for low THD

  • Start up with low current consumption

  • Zero current detector for discontinuous conduction mode

  • Output overvoltage protection

  • Output undervoltage lockout

  • Internal start up timer

  • Totem pole output with active shut down

  •  Internal leading edge blanking LEB


Improvements TDA4863 and TDA4863-2 referred to TDA4862

  •  Very low start up current

  • Very low comparator and multiplier offsets for universal input applications

  • High sophisticated amplifier for low distortion inteferences caused by MOSFET switching

  • More accurate overvoltage threshold

  • Higher gate drive capability (TDA4863-2 only)
