Intelligent Modules designed by Infineon represent a functional product family that is dedicated to useful integration of electronics into power modules.


Intelligent Power Modules (IPM) subcategories


Depending on the level of power to be handled, Infineon offers a wide variety of semiconductors in different packages and different voltage- and current classes. These Semiconductor products are separated in µIPM, IRAM, CIPOS™ and  MIPAQ™ module families.

 

The µIPMs, IRAM and CIPOS™ are families of highly integrated, compact power modules designed to drive motors in applications ranging from home appliances, to fans, pumps and general purpose drives. These energy-efficient intelligent power modules integrate latest power semiconductor and control ICs technology leveraging Infineon’s advanced IGBTs, MOSFETs, next-generation gate driver ICs and state-of-the-art thermo-mechanical technology. The modules improve system performance and energy efficiency by delivering increased power density, enhanced system ruggedness and reliability. Variety of modules is being offered to enable optimum PCB design, size and system costs. This simplifies the motor drive design and significantly reduces time to market.

 

The MIPAQ™ family has been developed in order to offer Modules Integrating Power, Application and Quality. It is a functional product family within Infineon‘s IGBT modules portfolio. The combination of an IGBT module and integrated sensing and driving electronics leads to an optimized solution in mastering the challenge of designing powerful and compact inverters for low and medium power. It eases the cost situation on the one hand and contributes to energy saving on the other hand. Three products are included that offer significant board space savings along with reduced development times and costs.
The MIPAQ™ base module features integrated shunts, while the MIPAQ™ sense module offers fully digital current measurements with galvanically isolated output signals. The MIPAQ™ serve module includes driver electronics and a digital temperature measurement, both with galvanic isolation.
