SICRYPT® is an operating system for Infineon security controller chips. The main focus is the usage of SICRYPT® controlled smart cards or dongles within the Windows® PC environment via standardized software interfaces. SICRYPT® is focused on the common PC applications concerning public key cryptography such as user authentication, e-mail protection (signature and encryption) and secure Internet communications. Today, these applications can be integrated easily into secure hardware devices for the execution of cryptographically critical operations.

This smooth integration of secure hardware and standardized software components means there is now the possibility of introducing the highest security level into an ordinary personal computer - no more worries about interoperability or integration – simply plug and play!

SICRYPT® is a multipurpose operating system (also called "firmware") for security controller-based tokens. The token may have different kind of form factors such as a smart card, a USB dongle, a SIM size plug-in or a base module integrated within other systems. The main focus of SICRYPT® is to provide security and cryptographic services by offering not only a competitive hardware platform compliant to ISO 7816 but also standardized software library interfaces (e.g. the "Infineon SICRYPT® Base Smart Card Cryptographic Service Provider") for easy integration into the Microsoft® Windows® platform and familiar office applications such as Outlook® or Microsoft® Internet Explorer.

SICRYPT® is available on the latest Infineon platforms such as their 66-controller family and will allow you such possibilities as hardware secured Microsoft® Windows 2000®/Windows XP® Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and other security services.

Many customers around the world already use SICRYPT® as the ideal platform for corporate employee cards, containment for private keys and certificates for digital signatures or integrated into security applications of their own.
