Infineon’s NFC Solutions: Combining Performance and Security
Infineon provides a leading and innovative approach for your Near Field Communication (NFC) solution. Our portfolio supports all NFC applications and business models and delivers the security and performance crucial for the success of NFC applications and solutions. Infineon´s NFC Secure Elements are used today in several NFC projects worldwide (SIMpass™, Cityzi,...)
NFC raises the bar for security, performance and convenience for the mobile device industry
NFC is today entering the consumer technology mass market and is about to revolutionize everyday activities bringing a new era of connectivity and communication into our daily life.
Based on Radio Frequency technology, NFC provides new wireless capabilities to mobile devices. Applied onto existing contactless infrastructures, NFC enabled devices are able to support convenient services such as:
- Purchase goods
- Gain access to transport systems
- Get access to buildings or event
- Cumulate points through loyalty programs
Applications such as NFC Mobile Payment utilize information that users want to keep private. Personal data and financial transactions must than be protected by the usage of NFC Secure Elements utilizing robust security concept similar to the security levels provided by certified credit cards.
Infineon is Partner of Choice for the NFC ecosystem
Infineon supports open standards
...such as CIPURSE™ from the OSPT Alliance. The CIPURSE™ system eases the deployment of NFC solutions for ticketing and transport applications. It operates on standard infrastructures and does not require specific terminal and specific TSM management. CIPURSE™ offers a clear and transparent licensing scheme for the NFC Stakeholders.

SWP Secure Elements (SIM, embedded SE, SWP microSD)
The SLE 97 SOLID FLASH™ Family is our new state-of-the art 32-bit product generation supporting the Single Wire Protocol interface. In addition to the standard SWP SIM market, these security controllers also fulfill performance requirements for embedded Secure Element and SWP SD Card implementations. The SLE 97 Family implements a dedicated security CPU designed with the ARM® SecureCore® SC300™ enhanced by Infineon´s Cache and Security Technology. All products are certified at least with the security level CC EAL5 High and EMVCo necessary to secure NFC transactions. The SWP interface is able to run up to 1.7MBit/s and supports CIPURSE™ and Mifare compatible protocols.
-
embedded Secure Element (eSE) solutions (SLE97144SE, SLE97400SE)
They consist of highly secure controllers that incorporate Integrity Guard, Infineon´s digital security technology with fully encrypted data path. They are connected to the NFC modem via the Digital ContactLess Bridge(DCLB) interface: DCLB is a globally open connectivity interface optimized for embedded SE implementation; it is widely implemented by manufacturers of NFC modems and Secure Elements for handsets: to date, more than 10 manufacturers including Texas Instruments, Inside Secure, MicroPross, MtekVision, Crocus Technology and KEOLABS have licensed the DCLB interface.
-
Dual Interface (DI) Secure Elements
The DI Security Controllers, such as the SLE 78 SOLID FLASH™ Family, are highly secure controllers supporting the simultaneous communication of both contact-based and contactless interfaces. Combined with an integrated antenna (e.g. MicroSD) or with a flexible antenna (e.g. SIMpass™), they can support successfully NFC applications. Furthermore, the Boosted NFC SE, a derivative of the Dual Interface Secure Controller family, can be used to overcome the limitations of integrated mirco-antennas on small form factor devices. This solution can significantly increase contactless communication capability and thus enables ultra-small secure NFC components in mobile devices, e.g. an antenna-integrated NFC MicroSD or SIM.
