Brush DC Motor
Find the right devices, application kits and support to control brushed DC motors with Infineon's broad range of motor system solutions.
There are three basic types of DC motors, series wound (uni-directional), shunt wound (bi-directional by changing connections) and permanent magnet (bi-directional by reversing current). When a set of windings is powered, in the rotor a magnetic field is generated. The opposing magnetic fields (N-N and S-S) push away from one another creating rotation until the fields align (NS – NS).
Key characteristics of a brush DC Motor
Brush motors can be used in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning) systems, such as blower or flap/damper control motors or for example in a motorized wheelchair to control comfort and main propulsion functionalities.
