Peter Bauer successfully completed his engineering degree at the Technical University in Munich in 1986 and then began his professional career at Siemens AG. He initially worked as a development engineer in the field of microcontrollers. In 1993 he became General Manager of Chipcard and ID-System ICs.
In 1996 Peter Bauer took over the post of Vice President and General Manager of Siemens Semiconductor Microcontroller ICs. He was also responsible for the worldwide Sales and Application Engineering from 1997 until 1999, and was appointed to the post of President and CEO of Siemens Microelectronics, Inc. in Cupertino, America in 1998.
After the founding of Infineon Technologies AG, Peter Bauer became Member of the Board in 1999, first responsible for worldwide Sales and Marketing and following he was head of the Automotive, Industrial and Multimarket Business Group and responsible for Central Sales Functions.
In June of 2008 Peter Bauer became Chief Executive Officer.
