Corporate Social Responsibility
At Infineon, sustainability is not an empty phrase, but a corporate responsibility and integral part of our social accountability.
As a global company and a participant of the UN Global Compact initiative we voluntarily take responsibility towards the international community. We take social responsibility and environmental protection very seriously and both are part of our overall corporate strategy. We have defined our structures, processes and guidelines on the UN Global Compact principles, which are for instance based on undertaking initiatives to promote environmental responsibility or the development of environmentally friendly technology.
Infineon is included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index
Furthermore, in 2011 Infineon entered the „Sustainability Yearbook 2011"; the Yearbook lists the world’s top-15% in terms of corporate sustainability out of 2,500 participating companies.
From 2002 until 2010 our efforts in the sustainable use of resources allowed us to save electricity equal to the annual consumption of a city with 1.7 million inhabitants or to 772,000 tons carbon dioxide eq. (approx. 210,000 tons black coal).
In 2010 we consumed around 58% less water per sqcm manufactured wafer than the global benchmark average and we generated around 49% less waste per sqcm manufactured wafer than the global benchmark average.
Infineon enables a net ecological benefit of more than 3.6 million tons of CO2 equivalents emission reduction per year.
Safer work conditions

The safe work conditions Infineon offers to its employees are reflected in the low rate of accidents we have, which is always substantially lower than the average reported by BG ETEM, the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the energy, textile, electrical and media products sectors.
