Job description

You will be part of Infineon’s International Rectifier HiRel Products, Inc. division which markets components that meet particularly high demands and survive under extreme environmental conditions. Application areas include space systems, commercial aviation, medical, oil and gas drilling, undersea telecommunication cable and defense technologies. IR HiRel offers a comprehensive portfolio of power management solutions with highly reliable, robust discretes and ICs, high temperature DC-DC converters, solid state relays and motor controllers.

This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States. Candidates are required to provide proof of either US citizenship, Permanent US residency or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b(a)(3).

In this role you will:

  • Work on a variety of new product development projects, most of which will be focusing on products intended for space, Aerospace and Defense, medical and undersea customers
  • Generate and manage schedules, setting up team meetings, reporting on project progress, establishing and smoothing the logistics between fab, assembly and test sites required to move projects from design into production
  • This role will drive projects forward for logistics, documentation, communication, coordination and reporting. You will be teamed up with a technical lead, who will provide the technical decisions, for the projects. The technical lead with the project manager own the success of the project. The technical lead is responsible for the technical content, the project manager is responsible for all aspects of the smooth execution of the project
  • Interface with Infineon wafer fab locations worldwide, subcontract assembly service providers inside and outside of the US (including HiRel Leominster)
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design team activities in close collaboration with a technical lead for a variety of aerospace and defense products from design concept through production
  • You will manage an average of 10-15 development projects on an annual basis, depending on the complexity, similarity or duration of the assigned projects
  • HiRel is a highly matrixed resource pool, which requires a high degree of collaboration, flexible planning and priority review with resource managers, to obtain resources, and maximize the success of projects for Infineon, while maintaining commitments to schedule, risk, and quality
  • The technical lead will provide the technical decisions, from which the PM will be able to define the project schedule, assess risk, develop the quality requirements, and budgets of each project from initial concept, specification, design, evaluation, test development through qualification to a variety of standards specific to space, industrial, medical and commercial products
  • For other HiRel projects related to Aerospace and Defense MIL-PRF-38535, MIL-PRF-38534 or MIL-PRF-19500 familiarity is a plus
  • Strong communication skills are required, as the primary interface on projects to with customers (internal and external) and suppliers (including wafer fabs and subcontract assembly houses)
  • Be responsible to oversee the smooth flow of customer driven projects from wafer fab into other Infineon locations or external subcontractors for assembly and test. The project manager is the watchful eye ensuring the process flow from fab, to the assembly and test site, and shipment to the customer is done efficiently, and smoothly
  • Track project plans, proactively manage risk and expectations from kick off to product delivery. Strong schedule tracking using Microsoft Project, strong meeting minutes with Outlook and/or Word, effective action logs using Excel, and attention to detail on project progress using PowerPoint and the ability to effectively communicate to management stakeholders, in person or on conference calls are required
  • Use the Product Development Process employed by HiRel as the project management basis for designing the project schedules, setting timelines, and executing the appropriate process to coordinate activities, reviews, reporting, and deliverables


You are best equipped for this task if you have:

  • BS Degree in electronics or science field, medical device experience a plus
  • 5 years of direct new product development project management experience specifically with die design, package design, and/or module design and introduction to manufacturing/production
  • Experience as the direct external customer interface, team leader as well as audit leader
  • Experience managing projects for a variety of chip, package, and module technologies from concept through production is required
  • Knowledge in high reliability markets, Power Electronic and hybrid technology preferred
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged
