COMNEON and TJAT Present First IMS-based Web Instant Messaging Deployment for Mobile Terminals

Nov 12, 2007 | Market News

Nuremberg, Germany, November 12, 2007, COMNEON and TJAT successfully demonstrate seamless IMS/ SIP access to web based instant messaging communities such as ICQ and MSN. The demonstration, first shown at this week’s GSM Mobile Asia Congress in Macau, comprises the COMNEON IMS Device Framework running on a mobile terminal and the TJAT instant messaging solution. It can be instantly deployed in legacy networks without an IMS server in place, as the server is being emulated. The solution is IMS/ SIP compliant what makes it ready for future IMS network enhancements which are already planned by the most network operators.

Developed by a joined team, the IMS/ SIP based access to the established web IM communities has completed in-house testing and cross-platform interoperability checks. The solution is fully OMA and IETF compliant.

Both companies are very excited to announce this break-through technological solution. TJAT's EVP Product Management, Dr. Oleg Golobrodsky, said that the demonstration is the first time that IMS functionality has been seamlessly linked with existing non-IMS web services like Instant Messaging communities.

Hartmut Schittko, Marketing Director at COMNEON, noted that the joint project with TJAT displays the capability of the COMNEON IMS Device Framework to connect to established internet based IM services delivering highly desired presence and messaging applications on for mobile terminals.
