eAnywhere Tech, Inc. starts mass production of GSM cell phones based on Infineon Technologies AG Wireless System Platform

Singapore, Beijing – April 30, 2002 – Infineon Technologies today announced that eAnywhere has started mass production of GSM mobile phones for the Chinese market based on Infineon Technologies Wireless system platform. This follows the Full Type Approval (FTA) according to the GSM (Global System for Mobile) standard, stringent InterOperability Tests (IOT) and field-tests successfully completed in China.

Infineon Technologies enabled eAnywhere to considerably accelerate time to market using its wireless system platform. The platform is a completely integrated GSM system solution that consists of a GSM chip set from Infineon, all necessary software from Comneon and a reference design from Danish Wireless Design (DWD), both companies being fully owned by Infineon. It is designed around SMARTi+, Infineon Technologies’ single-chip RF Transceiver, E-GOLD+, a single-chip baseband controller, and E-POWER, a power management integrated circuit. The platform proves to be benchmark in performance and low component count, rendering eAnywhere mobile phones smaller and lighter compared to existing dual-band products available on the market.

"Partnering with Infineon, eAnywhere can put more focus on our strength of innovative product design and manufacturing of en vogue and cost-competitive GSM/GPRS products, bringing them to the marketplace in the shortest time possible“, said Dr. Song Zhou, Chief Executive Officer of eAnywhere Tech.

In today’s maturing wireless marketplace, companies intending to develop GSM and GPRS based devices face shorter and shorter product lifecycles, leaving less time and resources for development of these products. Through its Center of Competence located in Hong Kong, Infineon provided development and technical support to eAnywhere, helping the company to complete the GSM phone design from start to Full Type Approval (FTA) in as little as 4 months.

“We are very pleased with our cooperation with eAnywhere. Having a valuable partner such as eAnywhere adopt our high performance wireless platform into its product portfolio is further proof of our leading position as a provider of complete customizable system solutions platforms for mobile applications“, said Mr. Dominik Bilo, Vice President Group Marketing Wireless Solutions, Infineon Technologies.

Infineon will continue to support eAnywhere in the development of GPRS products for the Chinese market.
