Infineon to Support Extended Data Rate ADSL2 Specificatio

Telecom equipment providers now can offer faster data rates and longer reach in central office and digital loop carrier systems for broadband data and voice/data services. Infineon has released an IC to support the specifications of ITU G.992.3/ G.992.4, known as ADSL2. In addition to extended data rates on loop lengths up to 8000 ft, and longer reach at lower rates, ADSL2 also provides better diagnostics and system control features. The new IC is a drop-in ready component of the Geminax ADSL Transceiver chipset, and is sampling now to qualified customers. For further information: www.infineon.com/adsl

Availability of Industry's first single-chip T3/E3 digital Framer and analog Line Interface Unit TE3-FALC

The industry's first single-chip T3/E3 digital Framer and analog Line Interface Unit, supporting telecommunications/ data communications links at 44.736 Megabit per second (Mbps) data rates is available now. The TE3-FALC supports unchannelized T3 and E3 applications, and maps either ATM cells or IP packets into the T3 or E3 payload. An embedded microcontroller runs firmware that allows a line card processor to communicate with the TE3-FALC using high level command and status information. Priced at less than $50 per device in high volumes, and supported with a fully operational evaluation platform that includes complete Layer 1 Device Driver code, TE3-FALC is a fully programmable solution for network equipment providers that offers great time-to-market benefits.

Memory products

First Samples of 2 Gigabyte Registered Double Data Rate Dual In-line Memory Module available

Infineon announces the release of 2 Gigabyte (GB) Registered Double Data Rate Dual In-line Memory Module (DDR-1 DIMM), the highest-density main memory solution for computer server, workstation, and high-end PC applications, based on 18 stacked 1Gigabit components (each component contains two 512 Mb DDR RAM chips. Operating at 2.5 V and fully-compliant with JEDEC specifications, the 2 GB DIMMs will be available in standard height (1.7-in. Z height) and reduced height (1.2-in. Z height/1U) versions and operating frequencies of 200 and 266 MHz (DDR 200, DDR 266), 333 MHz (DDR 333) on special request. Samples are available now, with pricing in low volume of $1900 for both versions with mass production beginning by end of this quarter.
