Munich, Germany – June 15, 2004 – Infineon Technologies AG (FSE/NYSE: IFX) is extending its communications product portfolio with its Amazon ADSL2/2+ CPE and WildCard 802.11a/b/g WLAN solutions. The new products will allow system manufacturers to develop cost effective set-top boxes, DSL modems and routers as well as other types of home gateways for delivering the broadband “Triple Play” of data, voice and video services. By extending its reach into the rapidly growing Home Networking and SOHO networking markets, Infineon further strengthens its leadership position in the telecommunications access market.

“With these two new products and other members of the Infineon Home Networking solutions family, we now offer a wide range of CPE products which can be seamlessly connected to design broadband access systems ranging from a simple ADSL Ethernet bridge to an advanced ADSL home gateway supporting WLAN and VoIP, ” said Tony Chang, Managing Director of Infineon-ADMtek Co. Ltd. “We offer fully operational hardware and software packages, assisting our customers in shortening their design cycles and time to market.“

“Infineon offers a one-stop-shop advantage for companies designing broadband CPEs with home-networking capabilities, a market segment that is expected to grow at a rate of 35 percent per year for the next five years reaching annual shipments of 22.5 million units per year by 2008,” said Steve Rago, Principal Analyst, Networking and Optical Communications, at market research firm iSuppli Corp. “The company’s new and comprehensive suite of CPE products gives its customers the flexibility to build a wide range of end-to-end system solutions with all the building blocks sourced from one supplier. As the market continues to grow, Infineon has the in-house intellectual property, integration capabilities and systems expertise to meet the evolving requirements of equipment vendors to continue reducing overall system costs while adding functionality.”

System Manufacturers will be provided with a complete system solution from Infineon consisting of silicon, hardware and software that reduces development costs and significantly shortens their time to market. By developing a mainstream platform and adding components as needed, customers can enjoy economies of scale for their high volume runner systems, while having the ability to add functionality cost-effec-tively on an as-needed basis.

About Amazon

With an ADSL2/2+ engine, an analog front end, a line driver, a high-performance MIPS processor, 10/100 Ethernet MAC and PHY, PCI and other interfaces for system connectivity, the new Amazon single-chip solution supports wire-speed data throughput from the WAN to the LAN. Coupled with the high data rates afforded by the ADSL2+ standard, Amazon is ideal for Triple-Play applications in which voice, video, and data services are provided through a single-box home gateway. It completes Infineon’s end-to-end ADSL2/2+ product portfolio which includes the GEMINAX MAX family, specifically designed to optimize high data rate communications on the central office side. ADSL2+ is the latest standard released by the ITU aimed at significantly increasing the speed of the ADSL connection. ADSL is the most prevalent broadband access technology.

Amazon is offered along with complete reference designs and system software. Availability of the Amazon is planned for the third quarter of 2004 with a volume quantity price below US-Dollar 10.
