"Infineon Goes Green", this is not only a slogan, but will have effect on production, logistic as well as processing at customers. Materials will be changed and therefore processes must be updated.
The term "E4" has replaced the "E3" as Freescale has joined the group consisting of Philips Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics and Infineon Technologies.
In the following documents is combined the aligned information from the four members regarding general topics, materials, reliability, conversion roadmap and the strategy in terms of pure tin and whisker.

Product Level
Especially during the conversion phase but also in future it is very important to identify green products. The information "green product" is traced by the datecode information for every product. In this way it es guaranteed, that the information is kept during the complete logistics from packaging up to board mounting at the customer. The information "lead-free" is visualized by a " G " in front of the datecode.
This marking is only provided, if the product allows such an extra information, very small packages especially discrete products are exluded therefore.

Packaging Level
To ensure a clear identification of lead-free products and to prohibit our customers from mixing up lead-free and lead-containing products Infineon Technologies decided to add the symbol below on the Barcode Product Label.
